So I see Boone got tossed again. Happens a lot, right? Watched the replay, him gettin’ all hot under the collar. You see it enough times, it just becomes background noise almost.

But this last one kinda stuck with me. Made me remember this gig I had a few years back. Total dump, but hey, it paid the bills. Mostly.
We had this supervisor, real piece of work. Always thought he knew better, even when he clearly didn’t know squat. We were pushing this update out, real crunch time, everyone stressed. Somethin’ broke. Badly. System went down.
Next thing I know, I’m gettin’ dragged into the head office. Supervisor’s there, his boss is there, everyone looking like they swallowed a lemon. And guess who’s gettin’ the finger pointed at ’em? Yep. Me.
I tried to tell ’em, look, the problem wasn’t my code, it was the server setup, the thing I warned ’em about last week. Got the emails to prove it. Showed ’em right there. Didn’t make a lick of difference. It was like talkin’ to a brick wall. Or like Boone arguing with an ump who’s already decided to run him.
They weren’t listenin’. They just needed someone to blame, right then and there. Damage control. So, I was the guy. Didn’t get fired on the spot, but got pulled off everything important. Basically sat at my desk doing nothing for two weeks before they “restructured” me out the door. My own little ejection, I guess.
Seein’ Boone lose it, yeah, I kinda feel that frustration sometimes. You know you’re right, or at least you got a damn good reason to be mad, but the guy with the power already made up his mind. Arguing just digs the hole deeper most times.
Baseball, office work… sometimes it feels like the same game. Someone calls the shots, fair or not, and you just gotta deal with gettin’ tossed out onto the street. Or at least back to the dugout.
