Alright, so you wanna know about this Ben Shelton fella and his college days, huh? Well, lemme tell ya what I heard. This young man, he went to the University of Florida. Yep, that’s right, a Gator! Big school, lots of folks there. He wasn’t just sittin’ around eatin’ oranges though, no sir. He was playin’ tennis, and playin’ it good!
Now, I ain’t no tennis expert, mind you. I can barely hit a ball over the net myself. But from what I gather, this Ben, he was a real whiz kid on the court. They say he won some big championship for the Gators. The whole team, you know? Like, he was the one who sealed the deal, won the last match, and they all went wild. Must’ve been somethin’ to see.
And it wasn’t just a one-time thing, neither. This boy, he kept on winnin’. They say he won the whole shebang, the NCAA singles title. That’s like bein’ the best college tennis player in the whole country, I reckon. He beat out a bunch of other youngsters, all tryin’ to be the top dog. But Ben, he was the one who came out on top. All them hours practicin’ and runnin’ around must’ve paid off. His daddy, Bryan Shelton, must be mighty proud. I hear he played tennis too, so maybe it runs in the family, you know? Like how some folks are good at fixin’ cars and others are good at bakin’ pies. This family, they’re good at tennis, seems like.
Now, this boy, he’s a smart one too. They say he was studyin’ somethin’ called finance at first. Sounds complicated to me. All that money stuff, countin’ beans and such. But then he switched to an online business degree when he went pro. That makes sense, I guess. Gotta learn how to handle your money when you’re makin’ the big bucks. But this Ben Shelton, he seems like he can handle it.
I also heard somethin’ ’bout another Shelton, Benjamin, played football and wrestled. But that ain’t our Ben, I think. Just a similar name, maybe. And they talked about some girl, Danielle Collins, who played tennis in college too. Seems like lots of these young folks go to college to play sports. Good for them, I say. Keeps ’em outta trouble and gets ’em an education at the same time. This Ben, though, he really made a name for himself at the University of Florida. He’s a Gator through and through, I reckon.
