Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Fuzzy Zoeller. Folks call him a golfer, a real good one, they say. Heard tell he won some big tournaments, somethin’ called the “Masters,” twice even! Imagine that, hittin’ a little white ball and gettin’ paid for it. Sounds like a good life to me, better than hoein’ weeds all day, that’s for sure.
Fuzzy, they call him. Don’t know why, maybe his hair was fuzzy when he was a baby, or maybe he just liked the name. Anyways, this Fuzzy fella, he was born a long time ago, back in 1951. That’s before most of ya youngsters were even a twinkle in your daddy’s eye. He started whacking them golf balls young, and I guess he was pretty darn good at it from the get-go.
- Won his first Masters the first time he played there, ain’t that somethin’?
- Won a bunch of other tournaments too. PGA they call ’em.
- Ten of them big ones, and a whole lotta smaller ones too, I reckon.
Now, they say Fuzzy, he’s got himself a real fancy house. A “monument,” they call it, built on hittin’ golf balls. Imagine that! A whole house built on somethin’ that seems like play to me. Must be nice to have that kind of money. Me, I’m just happy to have a roof over my head and some vittles in my belly. But good for him, I say. He worked hard for it, I guess. Hit them balls straight and true, they tell me.
He used special clubs, too. PowerBilt, somethin’ like that. They say those clubs helped him win all them tournaments. Guess it ain’t just the fella swingin’ the club, it’s the club itself that matters too. Like a good hoe makes weedin’ easier, a good club makes hittin’ that little ball easier, I reckon. And those PowerBilt clubs, they helped win a whole lot of tournaments, not just for Fuzzy, but for other fellas too. Eight big ones, they say, and over 140 all together. That’s a heap of winnin’, ain’t it?
I heard tell Fuzzy’s done playin’ in the Masters now. Guess he got too old, or maybe just tired of hittin’ them balls. Can’t blame him, I get tired of churnin’ butter sometimes. But he sure left his mark on that game, they say. People still talk about him, remember his wins, and that fancy house of his. He’s a legend, they call him, a golf legend.
Fuzzy Zoeller, a name to remember, I suppose. Even though I don’t know nothin’ about golf, I can appreciate a fella who works hard and does well for himself. And this Fuzzy, he done real well. He hit them balls, won them tournaments, and built himself a fine life. Good for him, I say. Good for him.
