Alright, so you wanna know about this Mychal Thompson fella, huh? Okay, okay, I’ll tell ya what I know. Don’t expect no fancy words though, I just talk plain.
This Mychal guy, he played basketball. You know, that game with the ball and the hoop? Yeah, that one. He played for a long time, they say 13 years in somethin’ called the NBA. That must be a pretty big deal, I reckon. They say he was pretty good too, not no scrub, ya know?
- He scored points, lots of ’em. I heard someone sayin’ he averaged somethin’ like 13 points a game. That’s a lot of points, even I can figure that out.
- And he got rebounds too. You know, when the ball bounces off the hoop and you grab it? Yeah, that’s a rebound. He was good at that, they say. One year, he even got like, 11 or 12 rebounds a game! That’s a whole lotta grabbin’, I tell ya.
Now, this fella, he played for a team called the Lakers. They’re a famous team, everyone knows them, even me! They got lots of championships, like, a whole bunch. And guess what? Mychal, he won two of them championships with the Lakers! Back in the day, they called it the “Showtime era.” Must’ve been some excitin’ times, with all that showin’ and timin’.
They had some other fellas on that team too, real famous ones. I heard names like Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and some other fellas with hard-to-remember names. But Mychal, he was part of that team, part of somethin’ special. They say he was a number one pick, whatever that means. Must be important.
This Mychal guy, he wasn’t just about basketball though. From what I hear, he’s a funny fella, likes to joke around. Good for him, I say. Life’s too short to be all serious all the time. And he talks about basketball still, on TV or somethin’. People listen to him, ’cause he knows what he’s talkin’ about, I guess. He even talks about other players, like that Kobe fella. Says Kobe would still be good if he was playin’ today.
And here’s somethin’ interesting. Mychal, he’s got kids, and they play basketball too! One of ’em’s named Klay, and the other one’s Mychel, spelled all funny-like. Imagine that, a whole family of basketball players! Must be somethin’ in the water, I tell ya.
So, that’s about all I know about Mychal Thompson. He was a good basketball player, played for a famous team, won championships, and now he talks about basketball on TV. And he’s got kids who play too. Seems like a pretty good life to me. Not bad for a fella with a funny-sounding name, huh?
One more thing I heard… this Mychal, he had his best year in 1981 or 1982, somethin’ like that. Scored a whole bunch of points and grabbed even more rebounds. That’s what they call a “statistically best season.” Sounds fancy, but it just means he played really, really well that year.
Oh, and they traded him to another team later on, the San Antonio Spurs. Traded him for another player, a fella named Steve Johnson. That’s just how it goes in sports, I guess. One day you’re here, the next day you’re there. But Mychal, he still played, still did his thing.
So there you have it. The story of Mychal Thompson, as best as I can tell it. He was a Laker, a champion, a funny fella, and a dad. And that’s all there is to it, plain and simple.
