Well, well, well, that The Rock, you know, that big fella on the TV, Dwayne somethin’ or other. He’s a big shot now, all muscles and smirks. But did you know he wanted to play in that there NFL? Yep, that’s right. He tried, that boy did. But somethin’ happened, I tell ya, somethin’ happened.
He went to some fancy college, University of Miami, they call it. Played football there, he did. Big and strong, even back then. But you see, there was another fella there, a good player too. This other guy, he was so good that our boy, The Rock, he didn’t get much time on the field. Not enough time to show what he was made of, you know? Like a flower that don’t get enough sun. Just wilted away there on the bench.
And you know how them NFL teams are. They like to draft the young fellas, pick ’em out like they’re choosin’ the best hog at the county fair. But our boy, The Rock, he didn’t get picked. No sir. Nobody wanted him. He was undrafted, that’s the fancy word they use. It’s like not getting picked for a dance, a real shame if you ask me.
So what did he do? He went up north, to Canada. They got a football league up there too, you know. Canadian Football League, they call it. He played for them for a bit, as a linebacker. Sounds like a tough job, chasin’ them other fellas around the field. He wanted to be in the NFL, he was an aspiring NFL player, but he went to Canada, poor guy.
He hurt his shoulder, you see. That’s what they said. Shoulder injury. Probably all that wrestlin’ around on the field, I reckon. So he couldn’t play no more. And that was that. No NFL for him. It’s a tough break, ain’t it? Like plantin’ a seed and watchin’ it not grow. All that work for nothin’.
- He went to college to play football.
- He didn’t get to play much.
- He didn’t get picked by the NFL teams.
- He went to Canada to play.
- He got hurt.
Now, I heard that this college, the University of Miami, is a big deal. They say The Rock wanted to play for some big-shot coach there, but the fella left. This fella went to some other team, the Cowboys, the Dallas Cowboys. So when he sent a letter, you know, like how you send a letter to Santa, askin’ for a present. He sent a letter to the coach askin’ to play, but the coach is gone. He sent it to a new fella, Dennis somethin’. Anyway, Dennis gave him a chance, but I guess it wasn’t good enough, you know?
But that The Rock, he’s a tough one. He didn’t let it get him down. He went and did other things. Became a big movie star. Makes more money than them football players now, I bet. He was in some show, Ballers, or somethin’ like that. Plays a retired football player there. It is funny how life work out, you know? He didn’t play in the NFL, but he played a NFL player in the TV. Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you gonna get.
And I heard he is friends with some player on the New Orleans Saints. A punter, they call him. Kick the ball real far. He supports him, and support some charity, a good man. He didn’t play in the NFL, but he loves football.
So, did The Rock play in the NFL? Nope. He didn’t. But he sure did try. And he made somethin’ of himself anyway. That’s what matters, ain’t it? You don’t always get what you want, but you gotta keep on goin’. Just like plantin’ them seeds. Sometimes they grow, sometimes they don’t. But you gotta keep plantin’. That The Rock never gave up, he was a real character.
And you know what? He’s alright. He did just fine, even without the NFL. He’s a big star now. Shinin’ brighter than any of them football fellas. He is a big shot now, everybody knows him, even if he didn’t make it into NFL. He showed them all, didn’t he? Yep, he sure did. He became a big name in Hollywood, and he is a good guy, supportin’ his friends. And that’s what counts.
