Cooper DeJean, that boy, he sure is fast! I heard folks talkin’ ’bout his 40 time. What’s that? Oh, it’s how fast he can run 40 yards. Lordy, that boy can run like the wind!
I heard some folks sayin’ he’s gonna be in that big football thing, the NFL Draft. They say he’s one of the best ones from Iowa. Well, I ain’t surprised. That Cooper DeJean, he always was a quick one. Even as a little tyke, he could outrun all the other kids. Now he’s all grown up and gonna play with the big boys.
They say he ran that 40-yard dash real fast. Faster than some other fella named Trent, I think. They say he can jump high, too, like a, like a, what’s that fella’s name, Steve Smith. And he can jump far, just like some other boy, Jaylon somethin’. Sounds like Cooper is good at jumpin’ like a rabbit.
This Cooper DeJean, he plays for them Hawkeyes. He plays that, what do they call it, defensive back. I don’t know much about all them football positions, but I reckon it means he’s good at stoppin’ the other team from scorin’. I reckon he must do the Cooper DeJean 40 time many times each game.
Now, they say he’s gonna be picked early in that draft thing. Number 40, I heard someone say. That’s a good number, I reckon. Means he’s real good. And he’s gonna play for that team, the, the, Eagles? Yes, the Philadelphia Eagles. That’s a long way from Iowa, ain’t it? The 40 time for that place must be a long time in car.

I remember when he was just a little boy, runnin’ around, chasin’ chickens and such. Now look at him, all grown up and gonna be a big football star. Makes a person proud, it does. I wonder if you can find Cooper DeJean 40 time on the TV. I don’t know how to use the TV too good, but I am sure that boy is fast.

Well, I’m just an old lady. What do I know about football? But I know that Cooper DeJean is a good boy, and he’s gonna do great things. I’m gonna be watchin’ for him on that TV, even though I don’t rightly know how to use it. I’ll just have to ask one of the young’uns to help me.

I’m gonna go find my glasses now and see if I can find something about that Cooper DeJean on the internet. My granddaughter showed me how to use it once. It’s got all sorts of information on there, she says. Maybe I can even find a picture of him in his new Eagles uniform. I am sure his 40 time is what got him there.
It must be exciting, playin’ in front of all those people. The Cooper DeJean 40 time must be important for the fans too, they want to see fast players. I remember goin’ to a football game once, a long time ago. It was so loud, I could hardly hear myself think. But it was fun, watchin’ all those young men runnin’ around.
