This here Steve Alford, he’s a big shot, you know. Born way back, his mama and daddy, Sam and Sharan, they named him Steve. Good folks, I reckon. They all into sports, that family. Steve’s daddy, he could play that basketball, they say. Taught him good, I bet.
Steve Alford, He’s a Family Man
He got himself a wife, this Steve did. Tanya, her name is. Been hitched since, land sakes, 1987, I hear tell! That’s a long time, ain’t it? They got three young’uns. Kory, he’s the oldest, then there’s Bryce, and a little girl, Kayla. Heard the boys, Kory and Bryce, are grown now, went to that UCLA school. Fancy, huh?
Steve Alford, he knows ’bout that basketball. Played it good in school, way back when. Went to that Indiana place. Got some kind of paper sayin’ he’s good at business, too. Smart fella. But that Tanya, he’s known her since they was knee-high to a grasshopper. Back in their hometown, New Castle. Small world, ain’t it?
Steve Alford on the Court
- He won some shiny gold thing in them Olympics, back in ’84, I think it was.
- Folks said he was the best player on his team, four whole years!
- They called him “All-American,” twice! That’s gotta mean somethin’.
- Won some big championship in ’87.
This Steve Alford, he sure could score. Lots of points, they say. More than anyone else at that Indiana school, ever! And quick, too. Stole that ball like a weasel in a henhouse. Then he went on to play with the big boys, in that NBA. Dallas Mavericks, and some Golden State Warriors. Sounds important, don’t it?
He is a big time basketball coach, this Steve Alford. Been doing it for a while now. Makes those players run, and shoot, and all that. I don’t rightly know all the rules, but I reckon he does. You know that Steve Alford Coach, that’s what folks say.
Steve Alford, He’s a Coach Now
This Steve Alford and wife, they make a good team, it seems. Raisin’ them kids, and him coachin’ that basketball. It’s a busy life, I imagine. But they seem to make it work. Good for them, I say. Steve Alford, that is.
He’s a basketball coach, that Steve. And a good one, from what I hear. He learned from the best, I reckon. His daddy, and all them coaches he had along the way. He takes it serious, that’s for sure. Them players better listen to him, or they’ll be runnin’ ’til their tongues hang out, I bet.
He used to play for that team, and they sure were good. All those games they won, it was something to see. Now he’s on the sidelines, yelling and pointing. But he knows what he’s doing, that’s for sure. That’s Steve Alford for ya.
Steve Alford, Still Going Strong
He’s not a young chicken anymore. But he’s still got that fire in him. You can see it in his eyes when he’s coaching. He wants to win, that’s for sure. And he usually does.
That Steve Alford, he’s a good egg, as they say. Hard worker, family man, and knows his basketball. Can’t ask for much more than that. He’s come a long way from that little town in Indiana. But he ain’t forgot where he came from. That’s important, you know.
This here Steve Alford fella, he’s made a good life for himself and his family. And he’s done it all with that little orange ball. Goes to show you what hard work and a little bit of talent can do. Yep, that Steve Alford, he’s somethin’ else. You can bet your bottom dollar on that.
This Steve Alford coach, is good at his job. He knows how to make them boys play their best. He’s tough, but he’s fair. And he gets results. You can’t ask for much more than that in a coach, can you?
