Some folks, they get all worked up about these numbers. They say he played for four seasons, that’s like four years playin’ baseball. My old man used to play ball, but not like this Bryan fella. He just played on Sundays with the other fellas from the farm. No one wrote down numbers about them.

Seems like this Bryan De La Cruz, he’s pretty good at this baseball thing. They say he’s a left fielder. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds important. Like he’s the boss out there in left field, tellin’ everyone where to go. He probably has to run real fast.
Heard he played on July 21, 2023, a game. These young folks, they play all the time. Back in my day, we only played when the work was done. And there was always work to be done, let me tell ya.
Bryan and Another Guy with a Similar Name
So, this Bryan De La Cruz, turns out there’s another baseball fella with a similar name, Elly De La Cruz. But they ain’t related, not one bit. Elly’s got a twin named Pedro, and they both loved baseball when they was little. Little Pedro, he’s only 5-foot-8, not very tall for a baseball player, I reckon. Can’t all be giants.
But this Bryan De La Cruz, he’s the one with all these fancy stats. He’s number 14, they say. Like he’s got a number on his shirt so you know who he is. Back in my day, we didn’t have numbers. Just played for the fun of it.
