Okay, so today I messed around with making a “jimmy horn” thing. I wasn’t totally sure what it was going to be, but I had this idea in my head, and I just wanted to see if I could make it happen.

Getting Started
First, I needed some supplies. I grabbed:
- Some cardboard: From an old box, nothing fancy.
- Scissors: The ones I always use for random projects.
- Tape: I just went with regular clear tape, you know?
- Some string: Not sure why it was needed.
- Markers:Just wanted colorful things.
Building the…Thing
I started by cutting the cardboard. I figured I needed some kind of cone shape, so I cut out a big circle. Then, I made a cut from the edge to the center and overlapped the edges to make it… well, cone-like. I taped that seam up good so it wouldn’t fall apart.
Next, I thought it needed some kind of…flappy bit. No idea what the real term is. I just cut another piece of cardboard, kind of long and rectangular, and taped it to the inside of the cone, near the pointy end. This part was tricky, and the tape kept getting stuck to my fingers.
Making it Work
Honestly, I was just winging it at this point. I poked a small hole near the top of the cone and tied the string through it. I figured I could hold the string and make the flappy thing move up and down. And I used colorful markers draw something on it.
It…kinda worked? I mean, when I pulled the string, the flappy bit inside moved. It didn’t make much of a sound, though. It was more of a visual thing, I guess. Maybe I needed a bigger cone? Or thinner cardboard? Or maybe I just needed to know what I was actually doing!
The Result (or Lack Thereof)
So, my “jimmy horn” wasn’t exactly a roaring success. It looked… homemade, to say the least. And it didn’t really do anything. But, hey, I tried! I spent an afternoon cutting and taping and experimenting. Sometimes, that’s the fun part, even if the end result is a little… underwhelming.
It might not be a real jimmy horn (whatever that is), but it’s my jimmy horn. And I learned a thing or two about cardboard cones, so that’s something, right?
