Okay, so here’s my experience diving into whether Yelan would be a good fit with Mualani. I’ve been messing around with team comps, and this one caught my eye.

I started by thinking about what Mualani really needs. She’s all about that Bloom, right? So, obviously, I needed a solid Hydro applicator. Yelan’s burst seemed like a perfect fit, with all those coordinated attacks applying Hydro like crazy.
My initial thought process was like, “Okay, Mualani triggers Bloom, and Yelan keeps the Hydro flowing. Sounds good in theory!” But theory is one thing, and actually playing it is another.
Experiment Time
So I jumped into the game. I already had Yelan built, thankfully, so that saved me some time. My Mualani was, let’s just say, “a work in progress,” but good enough to test this out.
- First I set up Yelan as my main Hydro.
- Then crafted Mualani in the game.
- I threw them into a team with a couple of other Dendro characters I had lying around – just to really maximize the Bloom reactions.
- I headed over to a domain I knew had a bunch of enemies that were easy to group up. Gotta make those Blooms pop!
The first few runs? Honestly, a little chaotic. I was mashing buttons, trying to get the rotations right. Timing Yelan’s burst with Mualani’s skill took some practice. I definitely messed up a few times and watched my characters get smacked around more than I’d like to admit.
But after a while, I started to get the hang of it. I learned to time Yelan’s burst just before I switched to Mualani, so the Hydro application was constant. And man, when it worked, it really worked.
My thoughts
The Blooms were everywhere! It was like a chain reaction of explosions. My damage numbers weren’t anything crazy, because, again, my Mualani wasn’t fully built. But the potential was definitely there. It felt like I was constantly triggering reactions, which is exactly what I wanted.
It wasn’t perfect, though. I noticed that if I didn’t have enough Energy Recharge on Yelan, her burst uptime could be a problem. That meant dry spells with no Hydro, and, well, no Blooms. So, that’s something to keep in mind – gotta make sure Yelan can keep that burst going.
Overall, I’d say Yelan can be good with Mualani. It’s not a brain-dead easy combo, you do need to pay attention to your rotations and energy. But the payoff is there. If you like explosions and big, satisfying reaction chains, it’s definitely worth trying.

I’ll keep experimenting with this duo and fine-tuning my strategy.
