So, the other day I stumbled upon this thing called “Wozniak,” and I was like, “What the heck is that?” Turns out, it’s related to Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple. I’m no tech wizard, but I figured, why not dive in and see what I could mess around with?

I started by, you know, Googling. Lots and lots of Googling. Found some old articles, forum posts, even some grainy YouTube videos. It was like digging through a digital attic. I was mostly looking for any projects or anything I can play around about it.
After digging around,I found a simple project to emulate one of his early computer designs, that’s my goal to practice, to build the emulator.
Getting Started My Project
- Gathering Resources: First I collected all information I have digged, documents, specs and old computer manuals.
- Setting Up the Environment:Then I chose an emulator, and downloaded and installed it on my computer. It took a bit of fiddling to get it working.
- Coding : Coding is core step in this project, I learned some basic code knowledge, and wrote some simple codes for the features.
Honestly, the coding part was a bit of a struggle. I’m not a programmer, I just copy and paste other people’s code, but I managed to piece some stuff together. I started small, trying to get basic things working, like displaying text on the screen. It was slow going, with lots of trial and error. I definitely made a ton of mistakes, but hey, that’s how you learn, right?
After many attempts, I finally managed to get a very, very basic version of the emulator running. It wasn’t pretty, and it definitely didn’t do much, but it was something. It was like, “Hey, I made this thing do a thing!” A small win, but a win nonetheless.
I spent a few more days tinkering with it, adding a few more features, fixing some bugs. I wouldn’t say it’s anywhere near perfect, or even fully functional, but it was a fun little project. It gave me a tiny glimpse into the world of early computing and a new found appreciation for the work of people like Wozniak.
So, that’s my Wozniak adventure. Not exactly earth-shattering, but a fun little detour from my usual routine. And who knows, maybe I’ll even try another retro tech project sometime. It made me have a new hobby, which is coding.
