Okay, so “basienka hull,” huh? I saw this thing floating around the internet and thought, “I gotta try that!” Seemed like a fun little project, and honestly, I was kinda bored. So, here’s how my attempt went down.

First, I gathered my materials. You know, the usual stuff you probably have lying around:
- Some sturdy cardboard – an old box worked perfectly.
- Scissors, because, well, you gotta cut the cardboard.
- Tape – lots of it. I went with packing tape because it’s strong.
- A marker, for drawing lines and stuff.
Then, I started by sketching out a basic boat shape on the cardboard. I’m no artist, so it was pretty rough, just a simple hull shape, nothing fancy. Think of a stretched-out U, kinda.
Cutting and Folding
Next, the fun part – cutting! I carefully cut along my super-artistic lines. Once the basic shape was free, I started folding the sides up. This is where it got a little tricky. I had to kind of guess where to fold to make it look somewhat boat-like. I scored the cardboard with the scissors a little, just to get a cleaner fold line.
Then came the taping. Oh boy, the taping! I taped the edges together, making sure everything was secure. I probably overdid it, but I wanted this thing to at least float for a few seconds, right?
The Moment of Truth
Finally, it was time for the test. I filled up the bathtub (because, where else do you test a cardboard boat?) and gently placed my masterpiece on the water. And… it floated! For like, a minute. Then it started to get soggy, and, well, you can guess the rest.
It wasn’t pretty, and it definitely didn’t last long, but hey, I built a “basienka hull”! It was a fun little experiment, and it definitely killed some time. Would I do it again? Maybe. If I do, I’ll probably try using some waterproof coating or something next time. But for now, I’m calling it a success – a very, very temporary success.
