Well, let me tell you somethin’ about that Colorado football national championship. Lord, that was a time, I tell ya. Back in 1990, them boys, they played their hearts out. They won that big ol’ championship. It was a real hootenanny!
Colorado Football Championship
Them Colorado Buffaloes, they was a force to be reckoned with. That coach, Bill McCartney, he knew how to get them boys fired up. 1990, that was the year. They went out there and showed everyone what they was made of.
That year, 1990, they called it the National Championship. Big fancy words for sayin’ they was the best in the whole dang country. And you know what? They earned it. Played against all them other teams, big schools, little schools, didn’t matter. They just went out there and played football.
- They played hard.
- They played fair.
- They played to win.
Now, I ain’t no expert on all them fancy football terms. All that yardage and touchdowns and whatnot. But I know a good team when I see one. And them Colorado Buffaloes in 1990, they was a good team. A real good team. They had that spirit, you know? That fight in ’em.
That Folsom Field, that’s where they played their home games. Place was always packed. Everyone cheerin’ and hollerin’. It was somethin’ to see, I tell ya. The whole town was buzzin’ when they won that championship. It was a real good time for Colorado football.
They had some good players that year, too. Can’t remember all their names, it was a long time ago. But they was all good boys. Worked hard, played hard. Made everyone proud. They worked together like a well oiled machine that year.
Colorado Buffaloes 1990 Season
This was way back, before all these fancy computers and whatnot. We just listened to the game on the radio, or if you was lucky, you got to see it on the television. It was during the 1990 NCAA Division I-A football season. They were part of the Big Eight Conference. I remember that much. It was a big deal. Big Eight, that was the cream of the crop. And they won it all!
It ain’t easy winnin’ one of them championships. Takes a lot of hard work, a lot of sweat. And a little bit of luck, too, I reckon. But them boys, they had it all that year. It takes more than one good player to win a championship. It takes a team, all working together, pulling in the same direction. And that’s what they did.
Some folks say they was lucky. I guess luck has a little something to do with it. But mostly hard work. They practiced hard, they played hard. They wanted it more than the other fellas.
I remember that game, they played their hearts out. We was all so proud of them. The whole state of Colorado was proud of them. It was a big deal, winnin’ that national championship. Still is a big deal, I reckon.
Colorado Football History
They’ve been playin’ football in Colorado for a long time, you know. Way back since 1890, that’s what I heard. That’s a long time. Longer than I been alive, that’s for sure. They got a whole history of football out there. Lots of games won, lots of games lost. But that 1990 championship, that’s one for the books. They was always a good team, the Buffaloes. They had some good years, some not so good years. But they always played hard. That’s what matters.
People still talk about that 1990 team. They remember them boys. They remember that championship. It was a special time. A special team. Somethin’ you don’t see every day. You know, it ain’t every day a team wins a national championship. It’s somethin’ special. Somethin’ to be proud of.
Colorado football, it’s more than just a game. It’s part of the community. Part of the family. It brings people together. And that championship win, it did just that. It was a good feelin’. Everyone was happy. Everyone was proud. Those boys, they worked hard. They was a team. A real team. And they won that championship fair and square.
