Alright, guys, so I finally got around to doing a fantasy draft with my buddies in Madden 24, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride. Here’s how the whole thing went down, from start to finish.

Getting Started
First things first, we jumped into Franchise mode. You gotta pick “Create New League,” and from there, select “Use Active Roster” – unless you wanna go with some old-school lineups, which, hey, no judgment.
Next, we made sure everyone was set as a user. This is key, or else the CPU will auto-draft for some teams, and where’s the fun in that? So, go to “Options,” then “User Management,” and double-check that every team has a human player assigned.
Setting Up the Draft
Before the chaos began, we tweaked a few settings. We headed to “League Settings” and found the “Draft Type” option. We switched it to “Fantasy Draft”. You can also mess around with things like draft order (we kept it serpentine, classic!), timer length, and all that jazz.
One thing we did decide on beforehand was how many rounds we are going to go for. We ended up going with the standard, I don’t remember exactly how many, but you know… the usual amount where you can still get solid players and not end up with only the scrubs at the end.
The Draft Itself
Man, this is where the trash-talking really heated up. We all hopped on a voice call, because let’s be real, half the fun is yelling at your friends about their terrible picks.
- Round 1, I snagged a top-tier QB. Gotta have that foundation, you know?
- Then, I focused on building up my offensive line. Protect the quarterback, protect the win!
- Some of my buddies went all-in on skill positions early, grabbing wide receivers and running backs like they were going out of style.
- Mid-draft, it was all about filling those gaps. Linebackers, defensive backs, a solid kicker – gotta have those specialists!
- The last few rounds? Pure lottery. We were all scrambling for anyone with a decent rating, hoping to find a hidden gem.
Playing the Games
After the draft, it was time to actually, you know, play some football. We decided on a schedule – who’s playing who, and when. We even set up a little side bet, just to make things interesting. Loser buys pizza next time, classic stuff.
The games themselves? A mixed bag, to be honest. My team started off strong, thanks to my smart drafting (humble brag), but then injuries started piling up. One of my buddies, who I thought had a terrible draft, ended up dominating the league. Go figure.
Wrap-Up
All in all, the fantasy draft and the season we played were a blast. It’s a totally different experience than just playing with the regular rosters. You really get to build your team from the ground up, and it makes those wins (and losses) feel even more personal. If you and your friends are looking for a new way to play Madden, I highly recommend giving it a shot. Just be prepared for some serious trash talk!
