Alright, so I got thinking about the Cincinnati Bengals and their Super Bowl wins the other day. It just popped into my head, maybe I saw something orange and black, who knows.

My first thought was, wait, wins? Plural? That didn’t quite sit right with me. I’ve followed football for a long, long time, you know? Felt like I’d remember multiple Bengals championships.
So, I had to kinda stop and really dig through the old memory banks. Didn’t even look it up right away, just tried to picture it.
Recalling the Big Games
Okay, I started pulling up those Super Bowl memories.
- Super Bowl XVI: That one definitely came to mind. Bengals vs. the 49ers. Freezing cold game up in Pontiac, Michigan. Remember Ken Anderson playing his heart out. But nope, they lost that one to Montana and the Niners. Close game, but a loss.
- Super Bowl XXIII: Then my brain jumped to the rematch. Bengals and Niners again, this time down in Miami. Man, that one was even tougher. They were so close. Had the lead late, then Montana did his thing again. Another heartbreaker. No win there.
- Super Bowl LVI: And then, much more recently, Joe Burrow and the young guns against the Rams in LA. That whole run was wild. Really thought they might pull it off. Again, super close game right down to the wire. But, nope. Rams got the win.
Putting it Together
So, I went through the mental checklist. Those were the three times they made it to the big dance. Each one was a tough fight, went down to the wire pretty much.
I double-checked myself then, just a quick search to make sure my memory wasn’t failing me completely. And yeah, confirmed it. They’ve been AFC champions three times, which is a big deal itself, getting to the Super Bowl is hard work.
But actual Super Bowl wins? The count is still zero for the Bengals.
It’s kinda funny how you track this stuff over the years. You remember the near misses, the big plays that almost happened. Being a fan, or even just watching the league, those moments stick with you. So yeah, that was my little trip down memory lane figuring that one out. Still waiting for them to get that first Lombardi Trophy.
