Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Gale fella in Baldur’s Gate 3. You young folks and your fancy games, always wanting the “best” this and the “best” that. Back in my day, we just made do with what we had, but I guess that’s not how things work now. So, you wanna build Gale strong, huh? Fine, I’ll tell you what the youngsters are yappin’ about.
First off, they say Gale is a wizard. Now, wizards, they’re the bookish types, always mumbling spells and whatnot. But some say, hold on a minute, don’t just jump into wizard right away. They say, start with a bit of fighter. Yeah, you heard me right, fighter! Something about “archery” fighting style. Guess it helps him shoot a bow better, or somethin’. Makes him a little less squishy, I reckon. These kids these days, always min-maxing. In my time, we fought with what we had, be it a pitchfork or a rusty sword.
Then, they say, hop on over to this “Warlock” business. Warlocks, they make deals with spooky things for power, if you ask me. They say, grab spells like “Eldritch Blast” – sounds like a fancy way to shoot energy, and “Bone Chill” – probably makes your enemies shiver and shake. And they gotta choose who they make a deal with, somethin’ called “Great Old One”. After that they start grabbin’ things called “Hex” and “Devil Sight”. Now, I don’t know about you, but all this sound like asking for trouble to me.
But here’s the kicker, they all say after all that mess, you gotta go back to being a wizard. And not just any wizard, a “Divination” wizard. Sounds fancy, right? Apparently, these Divination wizards can see the future or somethin’, and make the bad guys mess up their important rolls. You know, like makin’ them trip over their own feet when they’re about to swing at you. They say it’s the “hands down best” way to go. I guess seein’ the future is powerful, but I always say, you make your own luck in this world.
Now, some other folks, they’re all about that raw damage. They say this “Sorcerer” class is the way to go for that. Big spells, like “Chain Lightning” – sounds like a storm in a bottle, “Fireball” – well, that’s just plain fire, “Hold Monster” – freezes the baddies in place, “Globe” – probably traps folks in some kinda bubble, and “Otto’s Dance” – now I’d like to see that! They like to throw big boom-booms around. Sounds flashy, but I always say, accuracy is better than power. What good is a big explosion if you can’t hit nothin’ with it?
And don’t forget, they say this Gale fella, he already comes with his own stuff. He’s got a class picked out for him already and his numbers are set in stone, unless you change ‘em. It’s like he’s already got his own hoe and you’re tryin’ to give him a shovel. So if you’re gonna mess with him, you gotta know what you’re doin’. Some say, Karlach, that strong barbarian woman, she’s a real powerhouse early on. But we’re talkin’ about Gale, ain’t we? Stick to the plan.
So, there you have it. Fighter first, then Warlock for a bit, then finish off as a Divination Wizard. Or, if you’re feelin’ spicy, go Sorcerer and blow everything up. Me? I’d just stick to a good ol’ stick and some common sense, but that’s just me. You kids with your fancy games, always makin’ things complicated. Remember, It ain’t about havin’ the best build, it’s about knowin’ how to use what you got. And don’t forget to have fun, or whatever it is you young folks call it these days.
One more thing, they talk about some amulet, “Spellcrux Amulet,” they say. Lets you cast somethin’ fierce called “The Rough Tempest.” Sounds powerful, I tell ya. Probably makes the wind howl and the lightning strike. These wizards and their trinkets, always relyin’ on somethin’ other than good old grit. If you can find it, might help in a pinch.
Anyway, I hope all this makes some sense to you. I ain’t no gamer, but I know a thing or two about makin’ do with what you got. Go on now, and make that Gale fella the best wizard, or sorcerer, or whatever you want him to be. Just don’t forget, common sense is the best spell of all. And don’t stay up too late playin’ them games, you need your rest!
