Okay, so, I’ve been digging into the Florida State Seminoles football team lately. Man, what a history! I started by looking at their beginnings, you know, how they got started.
Turns out, they fielded their first team way back in 1902. That’s some serious history right there. From there, I went on to check out their biggest achievements.
National Championships
- 1993: This was a big one. They had this quarterback, Charlie Ward, who was just a beast. He even won the Heisman Trophy. I watched some old footage, and wow, the guy was amazing.
- 1999: This team is often talked about as one of the best college football teams ever. I mean, they finished in the top 5 rankings for the 13th season in a row. That’s just insane consistency.
- 2013: This was the most recent one. They beat Auburn in a nail-biter of a game, 34-31. Jameis Winston, their quarterback, was the star. I remember watching this game live, and it was such a thrill.
I also found out that they were in the top four of the AP Poll for 14 straight years, from 1987 to 2000. That is a long time to be so good. And get this, they had 41 straight winning seasons from 1977 to 2017. Can you believe that? Forty-one years of winning more than they lost. I wish my favorite pro team could do that!
And they have had some crazy winning streaks, too. They won 29 games in a row between 2012 and 2014. I looked it up, and that’s one of the longest winning streaks in college football history.
Bowl Games
So, these guys have played in over 40 bowl games, and they’ve won more than they’ve lost. Their record is something like 28 wins, 17 losses, and 2 ties. Not too shabby, right? I went through the list of all their bowl games, and it was like a trip down memory lane, seeing all those classic matchups.
All in all, it’s been a blast learning about the Seminoles. They’ve got such a rich history and so many great moments. It made me realize how much I love college football and all its stories.
