Alright, so listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about this fella, Yordan Alvarez, and his big ol’ contract with them Houston Astros. Don’t you worry none, I’ll make it plain as day, even if you don’t know a baseball from a watermelon.
Now, this Yordan, he’s a hitter, a real good one they say. Hits the ball far, makes the crowd go wild. And the Astros, they wanted to keep him around, see? So they gave him a big ol’ pile of money. A real big pile. We’re talkin’ 115 million dollars! Can you believe that? That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole darn life, and then some!
They signed that contract back in 2022, for six years. That means he’s stickin’ around with them Astros for a good long while. He ain’t goin’ nowhere, not yet anyways. And that 115 million? That’s guaranteed, they say. That means he’s gettin’ that money no matter what, rain or shine, good games or bad. Lucky fella, I tell ya.
Let’s break it down a bit, so even my old noggin can understand it. First off, they gave him a 5 million dollar bonus just for signin’ on the dotted line. Five million! Just for sayin’ “yes sir, I’ll play for you”. Shoot, I’d say yes for a whole lot less than that!
Then there’s his yearly pay, his salary, they call it. It goes up a bit each year, see? First year, he got 7 million. Then 10 million the next year. Then, in 2025, he’s gettin’ 15 million. And for the last three years of the contract, from 2026 to 2028, he’s gonna be rakin’ in a cool 26 million dollars a year! That’s enough money to buy a whole town, I reckon.
- Signing Bonus: $5 million
- 2023 Salary: $7 million
- 2024 Salary: $10 million
- 2025 Salary: $15 million
- 2026-2028 Salary: $26 million per year
So, if you add it all up, that’s how you get to that 115 million. It’s a lot of money, no matter how you slice it. Makes you wonder what a fella does with all that cash. Probably buys himself a fancy house, a fancy car, maybe even a whole bunch of fancy watermelons, who knows?
Now, some folks might say he’s worth every penny. He’s a good player, like I said, hits them balls a country mile. And the Astros, they seem happy to pay him. They want to win, see? And having a good hitter like Yordan helps them do just that. It’s like having a good strong mule to pull your plow, makes the work a whole lot easier.
They traded for him a while back, from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Gave up another player for him. Seems like it was a good trade for the Astros, wouldn’t you say? They got themselves a real star. Though, I don’t know too much about that Dodgers fellar, Josh somethin’-or-other. I reckon he wasn’t as good as this Yordan, otherwise they wouldn’t have traded him.
Now, I heard tell that the biggest contract them Astros ever gave out was to another fella, Jose Altuve. 151 million dollars over five years, they say. That’s even more than Yordan! But that was back in 2018. Times change, I guess, and the money just keeps gettin’ bigger and bigger.
Anyways, that’s the long and short of it. Yordan Alvarez, big contract, lots of money. He’s set for life, that’s for sure. And the Astros, they got themselves a hitter. Seems like everyone’s happy. Though I can’t understand why they’d pay so much for someone to swing a stick and hit a ball. I guess rich folks are just different, huh?
And last year, this Yordan fella made just a hair over ten thousand dollars. I reckon that was before he got this big contract. Seems like he made the right choice sticking with them Astros!
So there you have it, all about Yordan Alvarez’s contract. Hope you understood it all, even with my plain old way of talkin’. It ain’t rocket science, just a whole lotta money and a fella who can hit a baseball real far.
