Okay, here’s my take on sharing my “jerry jones yacht” practice, blog-style:

Alright folks, gather ’round! You know I’m always tinkering with something, and this time I got it in my head to kinda recreate Jerry Jones’ yacht. Not a full-scale replica, mind you – my backyard ain’t that big! But a scale model, something cool to look at and maybe show off a little.
First thing’s first: research! I spent a good chunk of an afternoon just scouring the web for images and specs. You know, figuring out the overall shape, the decks, the fancy little details. Found a bunch of pictures, some articles describing the interior (which, let’s be honest, I’m not even gonna attempt), and even some rough dimensions. Saved everything to a folder – gotta stay organized, people!
Next up was the materials. I didn’t want to go crazy expensive here. Hit up my local craft store and grabbed some balsa wood (easy to cut and shape), some plastic sheeting for the windows, a bunch of small dowels for railings and stuff, and of course, glue. Lots and lots of glue. Oh, and paint! Gotta make it look all shiny and yacht-y.
The build itself was a process, let me tell you. Started with the hull. I sketched out the basic shape on the balsa wood and started cutting. This is where the Dremel tool came in handy. Sanded everything down smooth, then started layering pieces to get the right curves and angles. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, it’s a model! Don’t need to be seaworthy.
Then came the decks. More balsa wood, cut and glued into place. I tried to get the spacing right, based on the pictures I had. Added some little details like steps and platforms. Again, not perfect, but it was starting to look like a boat! A small boat, but a boat nonetheless.
The railings were a pain. Those little dowels were tricky to work with. Cut them to length, glued them in place… and then half of them fell off. More glue! Eventually, I got them all secured. They’re a little wonky, but they add character, right?
Painting was the final step. Sprayed the hull with a glossy white paint. Then added some blue accents and a few details in silver. The plastic windows were a bit fiddly to glue in, but I managed to get them mostly straight. And finally, a clear coat to protect everything.
The Result?

- Well, it’s not exactly the real deal.
- It’s a bit rough around the edges.
- But it looks kinda like Jerry Jones’ yacht, in miniature form.
I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It was a fun project, a good way to spend a few weekends. And now I’ve got a cool little boat sitting on my desk, reminding me of… well, of Jerry Jones’ yacht. Maybe next time I’ll try building a miniature AT&T Stadium!
