Saw that headline today, “roman reigns return”. Yeah, big deal in that world, I guess. Always a story when someone big comes back after being away.

It kinda kicked off a thought in my head, though. Not about wrestling, really. More about my own stuff. You know how you sometimes try to ‘return’ to something you used to do? Like an old hobby, or maybe trying to get back in touch with someone.
My Attempt at a Grand Comeback
So, a while back, I decided I was gonna make a comeback. Not on TV, obviously. My comeback was supposed to be… well, getting back into coding some personal projects. I used to love doing that, spent hours tinkering away, building little things just for fun. Then life got busy, work took over, you know how it is.
I found my old hard drive with some ancient projects on it. Nostalgia hit hard. I thought, “Yeah! I’m gonna fire up the old editor, maybe finish that game I started, learn some new framework.” Felt real motivated for about, oh, half a day.
- First step: Dug out the old drive. Took ages to find the right cable.
- Next: Tried to run some old code. Surprise! Nothing worked. Everything was outdated. Dependencies missing. Errors everywhere.
- Then: Spent like, two evenings just trying to set up a new environment. Fought with installations, configurations… all that jazz.
- Finally: Got a basic “hello world” thing running in some new tech I wanted to try. Felt like I’d climbed a mountain.
And that… was kinda it. The initial excitement kinda fizzled out dealing with all the setup hassle. The mountain felt too high after that first little hill. That grand return to coding? Yeah, it stalled pretty fast.
It’s funny how that happens. You get this big idea, this vision of returning to something, making a splash. But then the reality of actually doing it sets in. The effort, the grind, the fact that maybe you’re not the same person you were when you did it before.
Guess comebacks aren’t always like they show in wrestling promos. Sometimes they just kinda… peter out. Maybe I’ll try again someday. Or maybe I’ll just stick to remembering the good old days. Less setup required for that, anyway.
