Okay, so I’ve been a huge WWE fan for years, and Sasha Banks, “The Boss,” is one of my all-time favorites. I decided to dive deep and really get her – not just watch her matches, but understand her moves, her style, her whole persona. This is how I went about it.

Phase 1: Immersion
First, I started with the obvious: watching a ton of her matches. I didn’t just passively watch, though. I made a list of her key matches.
- NXT TakeOver: Respect (vs. Bayley) – Iron Woman match. Iconic.
- WrestleMania 32 (Triple Threat with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch)
- Raw, July 25, 2016 (vs. Charlotte Flair) – First Raw Women’s Championship win.
- And many more, her fihgt with Ronda.
I watched these matches, rewinding, pausing, trying to pick up on the little details. I focused on how she moves, how she sells, how she interacts with the crowd.
Phase 2: Breaking Down the Moves
Next up, I wanted to understand her moveset. The Bank Statement is her signature, obviously, but she’s got so much more. I started compiling a list:
- Bank Statement (Backstabber into a crossface)
- Backstabber
- Double Knee Backbreaker
- Straight Jacket DDT
- Suicide Dive
I then used that list to keep me focus when I go to the video and find how she does it.
Phase 3: Mimicry (Kind Of)
Here’s where it got… interesting. I’m not a wrestler, obviously, and I’m not about to start practicing backstabbers on my couch. But, I did try to feel the moves. I’d walk through them slowly, imagining the impact, the momentum. It sounds silly, but it helped me appreciate the athleticism and timing involved.
Phase 4: The “Boss” Persona
Sasha isn’t just about the moves; she’s about the attitude. “The Boss” is confident, cocky, and always in control. I started paying more attention to her entrances, her promos, her facial expressions. I even tried to channel a little bit of that “Boss” energy in my own life (in a non-jerk way, of course!).
Phase 5: Keeping Up
Wrestling is always evolving, and so is Sasha. I make sure to watch her current matches, pay attention to any new moves or changes in her style, and generally stay up-to-date. It’s an ongoing process, but it’s a fun one!
So, that’s my Sasha Banks deep dive. It’s a mix of watching, analyzing, and even a little bit of (safe) physical mimicry. It’s made me appreciate her even more as a performer, and it’s been a really engaging way to connect with one of my favorite wrestlers.
