Okay, so I wanted to get into the nitty-gritty of “Jay Norvell Football” today. What’s the buzz? What’s the style? Let’s dig in.

Started with some basic searching.
First, I fired up my search engine. Just typed in “Jay Norvell football philosophy” and “Jay Norvell Colorado State” to get a feel for what he’s all about.
Checked out some interviews.
I watched a couple of his press conferences and interviews. Wanted to hear directly from the man himself. Get a sense of his personality and how he talks about the game. You can really get some clues on his style through video.
Looked at the team.
Then I checked the Colorado State football roster and schedule. I looked at what his team has been doing, because all this searching is only good if put into practice right?
Figured out the style.
From what I gathered, it looks like Norvell is big on a few key things:
- Air Raid Offense: Yep, lots of passing. He wants to spread the field and get the ball in the hands of playmakers.
- Developing Quarterbacks: Seems like he’s got a history of helping QBs really shine. That’s always a good sign.
- Aggressive Defense: I saw some talk about creating turnovers and putting pressure on the opposing offense.
- Team Culture: He talks a lot about building a strong, positive culture. Getting everyone on the same page.
Brought it all together.
So, basically, “Jay Norvell Football,” at least from my little deep dive today, seems to be about high-flying offense, developing talent (especially at QB), playing tough defense, and building a solid team environment. I think, for me, I need to see the actual on the field game to fully get the big picture.
I plan on watching some Colorado State games this season to see how it all plays out in real-time. I’ll probably do another one of these after I’ve seen a few games. This was a good starting point, though!
