Okay, so today I decided to dive into something totally random – “jimmy morris baseball”. I’d heard the name before, probably from that old movie, The Rookie. I figured, why not spend a few hours figuring out who this guy is?

Digging for Info
First, I just googled “jimmy morris baseball.” Straight up, simple search. Boom, tons of stuff popped up. Mostly about the movie, sure, but also some real-life baseball stats and articles.
I skimmed a few of the top results. Turns out, this Jimmy Morris guy was a high school teacher and coach who, at like 35, made it to the Major Leagues. Crazy, right? It’s like something out of a, well, a movie!
Organizing My Thoughts
I opened up a simple text document. Nothing fancy. Just started jotting down notes as I read. Stuff like:
- Born in [whatever year it was]
- Played in the minor leagues, then got injured
- Became a teacher and coach
- Made a bet with his high school team
- Tried out for the majors, made it!
- Played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (that’s what they were called back then)
I kept bouncing between different websites, grabbing key details and adding them to my notes. I wasn’t trying to write a biography, just get the basic story straight in my head.
Making Sense of It All
After a couple of hours, I had a pretty good handle on the Jimmy Morris story. It’s a pretty cool story, and most of story is very exciting.
I just summarized everything in my own words. I figured, if I can explain it simply, then I actually understand it.
That’s pretty much it. I didn’t build a fancy website or create a presentation. Just spent a bit of time learning about something new, and organizing my thoughts. Felt good, actually. A nice little mental workout. Might try something similar again tomorrow!
