Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with the Dallas Mavericks lineup, trying to figure out what works best. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, to be honest.
Starting Point
I started by looking at the usual suspects, you know? Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are no-brainers, they are the star players. They’re always going to be in the starting five. Then, I figured, might as well throw Daniel Gafford in there, too. He’s a solid center, and with those two guards, they have an awesome offense.
Experimentation Phase
- First, I tried pairing them with some shooters, hoping to space the floor. It kinda worked, but the defense was, well, not great.
- Then, I went the other way, adding in some defensive-minded players. That helped on one end, but the offense took a hit. It was like, we could stop the other team, but we couldn’t score ourselves. Not ideal.
Frustrating Moments
There was this one game, against the Pacers, that was particularly brutal. I think the score ended up being 137-120 or something crazy like that. We lost. My lineup just got totally shredded. It was back to the drawing board after that one. On Wednesday night at American Airlines Center. I did not see any improvement.
Current Lineup
Right now, I’m still tinkering, trying to improve the depth of players. I don’t think I’ve found the perfect combination yet. I saw some information on ESPN’s website about the 2024-25 NBA regular season, so hopefully, next season will be better. But, hey, that’s part of the fun, right? Trying different things, seeing what sticks. I’ll keep you guys posted on my progress. Maybe I’ll stumble upon something that works. We’ll see.
