Okay, so the other day, I was just scrolling around online, you know how it goes. Saw some picture, I think it was a cat or maybe a dog, with two different colored eyes. Got me thinking about people with that, heterochromia I think they call it. Pretty unique look.

First person that popped into my head was Max Scherzer. Can’t miss it when you see him pitch, right? One blue eye, one brown. Made me kinda curious, so I just did a quick search, wanted to see if maybe he talked about it much or whatever. Just idle curiosity, really.
Then I stumbled onto something I didn’t know. Turns out, his wife, Erica Scherzer – well, Erica May-Scherzer now, used to be Erica May – she has it too! Different colors than him, I think hers are one blue and one green, or maybe hazel? Anyway, blew my mind a little. Like, what are the odds of two people with that finding each other?
That got me looking a bit more into her specifically. Before that, honestly, I just knew her as Max Scherzer’s wife, you see her at games sometimes. But digging a bit, I found out:
- She’s got her own serious sports background. Pitched softball, and apparently was pretty good, back at the University of Missouri. Which is where they met, actually.
- They do a lot of charity stuff together. Big into animal rescue, especially dogs. Think they have a foundation for it. Saw some pictures of them with rescue dogs, looks like they really care about that.
Learning More Than Expected
It was just interesting, you know? Started off looking at a weird eye thing because of a picture online, and ended up learning a whole lot more about her. She’s not just standing next to a famous pitcher; she’s got her own history, her own passions. They seem like a real team, doing that animal rescue work and all.
Funny how you can go down these little rabbit holes online sometimes. Started with Max’s eyes, ended up finding out about Erica’s background and their shared work off the field. Just thought I’d share that little journey I went on.
