Okay, so, let’s talk about my recent tennis experience. I’ve been really getting into this sport lately. I mean, I started playing tennis when I was only three, picking up balls for my brothers and my dad, who, by the way, is Ben Navarro. I guess you could say it runs in the family.
Anyway, the other day, I went out to play with some friends. We just wanted to have a little fun, hit the ball around, and work on our game. I feel like I got some good practice, and I did have a bit of a winning streak. I mean, I did beat a really good friend of mine, and my opponent was really good, ranked number 2 in the world! That was a good day.
Then I saw that there’s this big tournament, the Brisbane International. I heard some buzz about Kimberly Birrell winning there. Now that would be amazing to be in.
And speaking of big wins, I actually managed to pull off a pretty big win at Wimbledon. It was a major thing for me, especially since I’m still pretty new to all of this. I was up against the world No. 2, Coco Gauff, and I won. It felt incredible, like a dream come true. I ended up winning 6-4, I think.
Here’s a little breakdown of what I focused on during my practice sessions:
- Serve: I’ve been trying to improve my serve. It’s a crucial part of the game, and I want to make it more powerful and accurate. Just gotta keep practicing.
- Groundstrokes: I spent a good amount of time hitting forehands and backhands. Just getting into a rhythm and trying to find that sweet spot every time I hit.
- Volleys: I also worked on my volleys, which is always a challenge, but I’m getting better.
- Footwork: I did some footwork drills, which are super important in tennis. You gotta be quick on your feet to get to the ball!
The recent match I had against Marta Kostyuk was intense. We battled it out, and I managed to win 7-5. Honestly, these matches teach you so much, win or lose. And playing at Madison Square Garden with Jessica Pegula, that was an experience I’ll never forget. Even if it was just an exhibition match, the atmosphere was electric.
Looking Ahead
I’m really excited about what the future holds. I’m just going to keep practicing, keep playing, and see where this journey takes me. Reaching the second round of Wimbledon for the first time was a huge deal for me, and defeating Aryna Sabalenka at Indian Wells was a major confidence booster. I’m learning a lot, and every match, every practice session, it’s all adding up. I think I’m becoming a better player, and that’s what matters.
