Alright, let’s talk about this Peru versus thing, you know, like them football matches. I don’t know much about fancy footwork or whatever they call it, but I watch the games sometimes, especially when my grandson is around. He yells at the TV, so I figure it must be excitin’.
So, Peru, they been playin’ a bunch of teams lately. I heard somethin’ about them playin’ against Argentina. Argentina beat ’em 2-0, that’s what I heard. My grandson, he was real mad. Said somethin’ about Argentina’s “second string,” whatever that means. Sounds like Peru didn’t do so good that time.
Then there’s this Uruguay game comin’ up. They say it’s gonna be on October 12th, in Lima. That’s in Peru, you know. My grandson says it’s a big deal. He keeps talkin’ about “UTC” and some stadium, but all I care about is if Peru wins. I hope they don’t lose face in front of their own folks, you know? It ain’t right to lose at your own home.
- They also got a game against Chile comin’ up, in November. Same time, 1:30 in the mornin’, but on the 16th. That’s gonna be in Lima too. Seems like Peru’s got a lot of home games. Maybe that’ll help ’em win. You know, bein’ on your own turf and all.
- And there was somethin’ about a Paraguay game too, in June. They played in that same Lima place, the “Monumental” somethin’. My grandson was yellin’ a lot that day too. I think they tied, or maybe Peru lost, I can’t rightly remember. These games all blur together sometimes.
This “Copa America” thing, that’s a big deal too, I guess. Peru played Chile in that one. I saw some of it on the TV. Lot of runnin’ around, and that fella, Messi, he wasn’t even playin’ against Peru that time, but my grandson kept talkin’ about him anyway. He says he’s the best, somethin’ like that. I don’t know, seems like a lot of fuss over one fella.
Anyways, this whole Peru versus thing, it’s a lot to keep track of. They’re playin’ all sorts of teams, all over the place, or maybe just in Lima, I get confused. Seems like they win some, they lose some. Just like life, I guess. You can’t win ’em all, that’s what my old man used to say.
But I tell you what, when Peru wins, the whole neighborhood gets noisy. My grandson, he jumps around like a crazy chicken, and all the neighbors start honkin’ their horns. It’s a real ruckus. And when they lose, well, it’s quiet. Real quiet. Except for my grandson grumbling in the corner. Poor boy takes it hard.
So, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how they do in these upcoming games. I’ll be watchin’, even if I don’t understand all the rules. And I’ll be cheerin’ for Peru, even if I don’t know why. It’s just what you do, you know? You support your team, even when they’re losin’. That’s what makes it fun, I think. The hopin’ and the cheerin’ and the gettin’ all worked up. It’s somethin’ to do, keeps you goin’, you know?
I heard someone sayin’ somethin’ about followin’ the games with “live text commentary.” I don’t know what that is, sounds fancy. I just watch the TV. See the ball go back and forth. That’s enough for me. And when someone scores, I cheer, even if I missed how it happened. It’s the spirit of the thing, right? That’s what matters.
So yeah, that’s my take on this Peru versus thing. A bunch of games, some wins, some losses, and a whole lotta yellin’ from my grandson. And me? I just sit here and watch it all happen, hopin’ for the best. That’s all you can do, really. Hope for the best and maybe have a little somethin’ sweet to eat while you’re watchin’. Makes the losin’ a little easier to swallow, you know?
