Well now, lemme tell ya about this fella, Ronald Acuña Jr. He’s a baseball player, ya know, a mighty fine one at that! Born in Venezuela, and now playin’ for them Atlanta Braves. That boy’s got some serious skills when it comes to runnin’ bases and hittin’ balls outta the park. But, just like the rest of us, sometimes he gets knocked down too, and that’s what we’re hearin’ ’bout today.
Now, back in May, poor Ronald tore his left knee up while runnin’ them bases during a game in Pittsburgh. My goodness, the poor fella must’ve been in so much pain. Doctors did what they do, took an MRI and all that fancy stuff, and the news wasn’t good. The Braves was hopin’ he’d be ready to come back for the start of the 2025 season, but Ronald’s bein’ real careful. Ain’t no rushin’ back from somethin’ like that, I reckon. He said he’s takin’ it slow, so he don’t end up makin’ things worse.
But even though he’s been hurt, Ronald’s got himself a good family to keep him company while he recovers. He’s married to Maria Laborde, and they’ve got two young’uns now. The first one came in September of 2020—little Ronald Daniel Acuña Laborde, they named him after his daddy. Then, just a couple years later in 2022, they had another boy, Jamal. So that boy’s got his hands full with them kids while he’s tryin’ to heal up!
Now, let me tell you somethin’ about the Braves. They ain’t just waitin’ around for ol’ Ronald to come back, no sir. They got themselves a good team with folks like Adam Duvall, Joc Pederson, Eddie Rosario, and Jorge Soler. Them outfielders stepped right in and helped push the Braves all the way to the World Series. Ain’t that somethin’? Ronald might’ve been out, but the Braves just kept on goin’ strong!
In fact, it was a mighty big year for Ronald before that knee injury. That fella was the National League MVP in 2024, the very first one to ever hit 40 homers and steal 70 bases in a single season. Can you believe that? That’s a record nobody else has done in all of Major League Baseball history. That boy sure is somethin’ special. He’s got the power and the speed, and he’s just as tough as they come. Even with that knee injury, folks know he’ll be back and better than ever!
But, as with any big injury, sometimes ya gotta take a step back and be real careful. And that’s what Ronald’s doin’. He’s been through it all before, y’know, with another big knee surgery before, and it worked out for him. So he’s got the confidence that he’ll make a full recovery. But, he ain’t takin’ any chances. He’ll be back when he’s good and ready. And we all can’t wait to see him out there again, playin’ the game he loves.
And it don’t stop there! Ronald’s little brother, Luisangel Acuña, is makin’ a name for himself too. They say that boy’s got talent just like his big brother. He’s a rookie with the Mets, and I reckon the Acuña family’s got a real good future ahead of ’em in baseball!
So, while Ronald’s dealin’ with his recovery and all that, there’s still plenty of excitement to come. Whether it’s his comeback or his younger brother’s rise, the Acuña family is certainly one to watch in the world of baseball. We all know that when that boy is healthy again, he’s gonna tear up the field like nobody else can!
Take care of yourself, Ronald. We’re all rootin’ for ya!
