Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this here Rutgers basketball. You know, I ain’t much for fancy talk, but this team’s somethin’ else, I reckon. They’ve been makin’ quite the stir, specially this year, with all the buzz ’bout them youngsters comin’ up to play. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout how excited they are for the 2024-25 season, and I ain’t gonna lie, it sounds like it’s gonna be a real good one.
Now, if you don’t know, Rutgers basketball ain’t somethin’ new. It’s been around for quite a while. It all started back in the day when the college opened up again in 1825. The new president, a feller by the name of Rev. Philip Milledoler, thought it’d be a good idea to name the school after a big name in the Dutch Reformed Church, so that’s how Rutgers got its name. And, well, the school’s been playin’ basketball for many years, gettin’ stronger and stronger each season.
But folks really started takin’ notice of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, as they call themselves, when they started makin’ noise in the NCAA. This year, folks have been real excited ’bout a couple of them fresh young fellers comin’ in to join the team. I’m talkin’ ’bout Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey. Now, I might not know all them fancy sports stats, but I know a good player when I see one, and these two, well, they got the goods.
Just the other night, Rutgers played against Wagner, and I reckon it was a big ol’ win for ‘em, 75-52. Now, don’t get me wrong, I ain’t sayin’ I know much ‘bout Wagner, but I do know that it was them freshmen, Harper and Bailey, who helped push the Scarlet Knights to that win. Harper, especially, made a big splash, what with him scorin’ 20 points on his first game. You could hear folks cheer from the stands, that’s for sure. It was the first standing ovation of the season, and it wasn’t even for who you mighta thought it’d be. Nope, it was Harper gettin’ all the love.
Now, I gotta tell ya, it ain’t just Harper who’s makin’ waves. Ace Bailey’s got folks talkin’, too. But, I heard from some folks that he’s hurt right now, so he didn’t play in that Wagner game. Ain’t that a shame? Injuries sure do mess things up, but I’m hopin’ he’ll be back out there soon enough. These boys, they got a lotta potential, and if they keep playin’ like this, I reckon Rutgers might just have one of the best seasons they ever had.
So, if you ain’t been followin’ Rutgers basketball, now might be a good time to start. The 2024-25 season is lookin’ like it could be somethin’ real special. With them fresh faces like Harper and Bailey, it sure seems like the Scarlet Knights might finally be gettin’ the recognition they deserve. Who knows, maybe this is the year they make a real deep run in the tournament. We’ll just have to wait and see!
Now, I ain’t sayin’ I know everything about them big sports events, but I do know this much: Rutgers basketball is on the rise, and if you ain’t watchin’, you might just be missin’ out. So, grab yer popcorn, sit down, and watch them young fellers do their thing out there. It’s gonna be a good season, that’s for sure!
