Okay, so I got curious about how much umpires in Major League Baseball make. I mean, they’re out there on the field for every game, making crucial calls, dealing with pressure… gotta be decent money, right? So, I started digging.

First, I just went to do simple search, nothing fancy. Just typed in “salary major league umpire”.
The initial results were kinda all over the place. Some sites talked about starting salaries, others mentioned the top end for experienced umpires. It was a bit confusing, so I decided to look at a few different sources to get a better picture.
I started to looking more detail.
- Entry-Level: I found out that rookies, the guys just starting out in the big leagues, they make somewhere in the ballpark of $150,000 per year.
- Experienced Umpires: This is where it gets interesting. The more experienced umpires, the ones who’ve been around for years and years, they can pull in some serious cash. I’m talking upwards of $450,000 a year. Wow!
How I felt after researching?
I was truly interested in this job after seeing these figures, and maybe I will work hard to become an excellent umpire, haha!
