Alright, let’s talk about this Dodgers and Oakland A’s game, you know, the baseball stuff. I heard folks jabberin’ about it, so I figured I’d try and make sense of it all, the way I see it.
Dodgers and A’s, huh? Who’s Better?
Now, I ain’t no fancy pants expert, but from what I gather, these two teams, the Dodgers from Los Angeles and the A’s from Oakland, they been smackin’ balls around for a good long while. People keep track of all sorts of things, like how many times they win and lose, and even who hits the ball the farthest. They call ’em “stats” or somethin’. Sounds complicated, but I guess it matters to some folks.
- Championships: The A’s, they won a bunch of times way back when. Like, in 1910, 1911, 1913… you know, a long, long time ago. They also won in the 70s, 1972 and 1973. Don’t know much about the Dodgers winnin’ championships, but I reckon they got a few too. People are always yappin’ about ’em.
- Head-to-Head: Seems like these two teams are pretty even. Sometimes the Dodgers win, sometimes the A’s win. It’s like a seesaw, back and forth. I heard someone say the A’s got a 24-21 record against the Dodgers all-time, but other times, they say the Dodgers are better, somethin’ like 21-24. Goes to show, anybody can win on any given day.
Recent Games and Who Done What
Now, let’s get to the recent games. I heard about this one game on August 2nd, must be recent, just a few days ago when I’m yappin’ now. Folks were all riled up about it. Seems like the A’s played the Dodgers. They got this thing called a “box score” where they write down everything that happened. Who hit the ball, who caught it, who ran around the bases… it’s a whole lotta numbers, if you ask me.
I also heard about a game way back in February, the 25th I think they said, also Dodgers versus A’s. They play each other a lot, it seems. Don’t know who won either game, but I guess if you look at the “box score” you could figure it out. All too many numbers, it makes my head spin. It’s just like when I try to count how many chickens I have, I always need my grandbaby to help me.
Players and Their “Stats” – Whatever That Means
Then there’s the players. Each team’s got a whole bunch of ’em. And they keep track of how well each player does. Like, how many times they hit the ball, how many runs they score… all that jazz. They call ’em “player stats.” Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but folks seem to care.
For example, in that August 2nd game, I heard someone say a fella named Joey Estes, he won the game for the A’s I guess. And this other fella, Gavin Stone, he lost it for the Dodgers. Poor guy. But that’s baseball, I reckon. One day you’re winnin’, the next day you’re losin’. It is what it is.
And they got this thing called “batting average” too. I think that’s how often they hit the ball or somethin’. The Dodgers, as a whole team, they bat .246 against the A’s, whatever that means. Guess it ain’t too good, ain’t too bad neither.
Betting and All That Nonsense
Now, some folks, they like to bet on these games. They go to these places, or maybe they do it on their phones now, and they put money on who they think is gonna win. I ain’t got no time for that. Waste of good money, if you ask me. But I did hear someone mention “BetMGM”. Sounded like a bunch of gibberish.
Final Thoughts – Just a Game, After All
So, there you have it. Dodgers versus A’s. A bunch of fellas hittin’ a ball, runnin’ around, and folks keepin’ track of all sorts of numbers. Seems like a lot of fuss over a game, but I guess it gives folks somethin’ to do. Me, I prefer sittin’ on my porch, watchin’ the birds and sippin’ my lemonade. But hey, to each their own, right?
Keywords for the Youngins Searchin’ the Web
Now, my grandbaby told me if I wanted folks to find my ramblings on the internet, I had to use certain words. So here they are: Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, player stats, box score, championships, head-to-head, MLB, August 2, February 25, Joey Estes, Gavin Stone, BetMGM, win-loss record, and batting average. Hopefully that does the trick, whatever that means.
