Man, I gotta tell you about this rabbit hole I went down today. I was just messing around online, you know, killing time, and I got this random thought in my head: who’s the shortest guy on the PGA Tour? Don’t ask me why, it just popped in there.
So, I started poking around, Googling and stuff. First name that kept coming up was Tadd Fujikawa. Turns out, this dude is only 5’1″! That’s crazy short for a pro golfer, right? I mean, most of those guys are like, giants. Anyway, I dug a little deeper on Fujikawa. Born in Hawaii, made his PGA debut way back in 2007 when he was just 16. He even made the cut at the Sony Open that year!
- Then there was this Gene Sarazen guy. Apparently, he was the shortest golfer back in the early days of the PGA Tour. 5’5″ and won the U.S. Open, not once, but twice in 1922 and 1932!
- I also found this name, Ian Woosnam, a Welsh golfer, only 5’4″, and this guy is a beast. They say he has a powerful swing. This guy won the Masters Tournament in 1991.
- Brian Harman, another shorty, 5’7″, but three PGA Tour wins and won the 2023 Open Championship. World No. 9.
Some Other Short Golfers
But yeah, back to Fujikawa, the shortest of them all, at 5’1″. I spent a good chunk of my afternoon just reading about him and these other short golfers. It’s wild to think about how these guys, who are way shorter than the average golfer, can still compete at such a high level. It just goes to show, size isn’t everything, I guess. It really inspired me.
Anyway, that’s how I wasted my day today. It is funny, right? Just goes to show you can learn something new every day, even if it’s about something as random as the shortest golfer on the PGA Tour. Maybe I should take up golf… nah, probably not.
