Okay, folks, let’s dive into this whole Mauga counter-pick thing. I spent a good chunk of my weekend trying to figure this out, and boy, was it a ride.

So, first, I jumped into a few games, trying out different heroes to see what stuck. Initially, I thought, “Hey, * might do the trick!” I played *, had tons of heals going, and even tried to pick off their supports. The plan was simple: stay alive, protect my team, and annoy the heck out of the enemy. But honestly? It was like trying to stop a truck with a water gun. Not very effective. I kept getting shredded, and it felt like I was just feeding Mauga.
Then I thought, “Maybe it’s all about range.” So, I picked Sojourn. The idea was to use her railgun, farm up some charge on Mauga, and then snipe the squishier targets. It kinda worked. I mean, I could get some good shots in, and it was satisfying to land those headshots, but it wasn’t enough to really shut down Mauga. He’s just too bulky, and my team was still getting steamrolled.
After a few more frustrating matches, I switched gears to support. I tried Ana, thinking her anti-heal would be a game-changer. And it was, to some extent. I could keep my team alive a bit longer and even land some clutch sleeps on Mauga. But let me tell you, playing Ana at a high level is tough. My aim isn’t perfect, and sometimes those sleep darts just wouldn’t hit. Plus, if the enemy team had any sense, they’d focus me down pretty quick.
I even dabbled with Zenyatta, throwing those discord orbs on Mauga to melt him faster. Again, it had its moments. When my team actually focused fire, we could take him down, but it required a lot of coordination. And if I got caught out of position? Forget about it. I was toast.
Next, I went back to tanks. This time, I tried Sigma. I had heard some people say he’s a good counter, and I can see why. His rock can interrupt Mauga’s Overrun, and his Kinetic Grasp can eat up a lot of damage. Plus, his ultimate, Gravitic Flux, is a great way to isolate Mauga and set him up for a big burst. I definitely had more success with Sigma than with *. I could at least hold my own and create some space for my team.
Here’s what I learned after all this experimenting:
- Teamwork is key. No matter who you pick, you need your team to follow up and focus fire on Mauga.
- Positioning is crucial. Don’t stand in the open and let Mauga shoot you for free. Use cover, play corners, and try to stay out of his line of sight.
- It’s a constant dance. You gotta be adaptable. Sometimes you need to be aggressive, sometimes you need to play it safe. It all depends on the flow of the game.
- Bastion and Reaper, forget them. It seems useful, but when I tried that, I found it not very good.
Honestly, there’s no magic bullet to counter Mauga. He’s a strong hero, and it takes a lot of effort to shut him down. But it’s not impossible. With the right strategy, the right hero, and a little bit of luck, you can definitely make his life miserable. But also, I tried Orisa, it seems like not a good idea. I think that he is her counter. I’m still experimenting, and I’ll keep you all updated on my progress. Keep grinding, keep learning, and never give up! It’s all about having fun and learning along the way.
Hope you enjoyed my experience sharing.
