Alright, so listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this fella, Starling Marte, and his contract. Now, I ain’t no fancy lawyer or nothin’, but I can tell ya what I heard and what it all means, the way I see it.
Starling Marte’s Big Money Deal
So, this Starling fella, he plays baseball, right? And he plays real good, I guess, ’cause the Mets, that’s a team in New York City, they gave him a whole heap of money. We talkin’ 78 million dollars! Can ya believe that? That’s enough money to buy a whole lotta chickens and pigs, let me tell ya.
This deal, it’s for four years. That means from, uh, 2022 to 2025, he’s playin’ for them Mets and gettin’ paid all that money. They say he got some of that money right off the bat, like a, uh, “sign-in bonus,” they called it. Five million dollars just for sayin’ he’d play! Shoot, I’d sign anything for that kinda money.
They say he gets, uh, around 19 and a half million dollars every year. Now, that’s what I call a good day’s work. Even though I reckon he works at night too, playin’ them baseball games under the lights. Seems kinda backwards to me, but hey, what do I know?
- Contract worth $78 million
- Four-year deal (2022-2025)
- $5 million signing bonus
- Around $19.5 million per year
Now, what happens after 2025? Well, that’s when his contract is up. That means he could go play for another team if he wants, or maybe the Mets will give him even more money to stay. They sayin’ somethin’ ’bout a trade too, if the Mets decide they don’t want him no more, but that’d have to be ’cause they wanna save some money, I guess.
Big Bucks in Baseball
This whole baseball thing, it’s big business, you know? They throwin’ money around like it ain’t nothin’. Heard about another fella, Juan Soto, just got a contract for, get this, 765 million dollars! Over 15 years! That’s just… well, it’s a whole lot of money. Makes that 78 million look like chicken feed, almost. Almost.
Starling, he used to play for other teams too. Pittsburgh Pirates, Arizona Diamondbacks, Miami Marlins… He’s been around the block, you could say. But now he’s with the Mets, and he’s gettin’ paid the big bucks.
This fella Canha, and that Escobar fella, they signed with the Mets around the same time as Starling. Seems like the Mets were on a spendin’ spree, tryin’ to get all the good players. Well, I guess that’s how ya win ball games, right? Throw enough money at it, and somethin’s bound to stick.
I tell ya, it’s a whole different world these baseball fellas live in. Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it. All that money, all them games. It’s somethin’ else, alright. But hey, as long as folks are entertained, and that Starling fella is happy with his millions, well, who am I to complain?
So that’s the story on Starling Marte’s contract, as best as I can tell ya. A whole lotta money, a few years of playin’ ball, and then who knows what. Maybe he’ll buy a farm out here next to mine. Wouldn’t that be somethin’? Me and Starling Marte, neighbors. Heh, a fella can dream, can’t he?
