Okay, so today I was digging into something that’s been bugging me for a while: why the heck does the Farmers Insurance Open golf tournament start on a Wednesday? Seriously, who starts a tournament mid-week?
First, I hit up Google, just a basic search. You know, typed in “why does the farmers open start on wednesday”.
My Research Process

I went back to do more searching based on what I found. To figure out this whole Wednesday start thing.
- I confirmed this wasn’t a one-time thing. It’s been going on for a few years now.
- Then I compared the PGA schedule to other major sporting events.
So, I pieced it all together from various sources and my common sense. And, I checked multiple sites to make sure I wasn’t getting bad info from just one place.
I even double-checked some details by I could find. Just to get a better picture of the whole scheduling situation.
