Okay, so I saw this thing called the “Grant Thornton Invitational” and figured, why not give it a shot? I’m not a pro golfer or anything, but I like to try new things, plus the whole mixed-team format sounded pretty cool.
First things first, I had to figure out what this tournament even was. I did a bit of digging, and from my understanding, the tournament brings together PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour players in a unique mixed-team event.
I then tried to understand the format. From what i learnt, it’s a 32-player field, 16 PGA TOUR and 16 LPGA Tour professionals, competing in 16 two-person teams for a purse. Teams will compete over 3 rounds, each round using a different format: Scramble, Foursomes and Modified Four-ball.
Getting Ready (Sort Of)
I spent more time researching it and looking for ways I can improve. Found a few articles and videos about the tournament, watched some highlights from previous years. I mean, you gotta see how the pros do it, right?
The Actual “Playing” Part
- Finding Info: It wasn’t super easy to find everything in one place. I jumped around a few websites to get the full picture.
- Understanding: I read through all the informaiton I found to make sense of the game and tournament.
- Watching: Watched a lot of videos.
So, yeah, that was my “Grant Thornton Invitational” experience. More of a virtual deep dive than anything, but hey, I learned something new, and that’s always a win in my book. Maybe one day I’ll actually get to see it in person, or, you know, magically become a pro golfer. A guy can dream, right?
