Alright, let me tell ya about this fella Darvin Ham. Now, Darvin, he’s been around the basketball world for a good while now, playin’ and coachin’. Let me tell ya, he was born back in July 23, 1973, and if you add that up, well, he ain’t young, but he sure’s got experience under his belt. Played in the NBA, he did, not puttin’ up huge numbers, but he worked hard and folks noticed him for his energy on the court.
So this Darvin, he got himself a job as a coach too. Now, that was with the Los Angeles Lakers, one of those big ol’ teams with a lot of expectations and a big fan base. People wanna see wins, and let me tell ya, they don’t like losin’. Darvin got hired by the Lakers, and folks thought maybe he’d bring some of that old grit he had as a player into his coachin’. And sure enough, he had some success, took ‘em all the way to the Western Conference Finals in 2023. Now, gettin’ that far ain’t no small thing, mind ya. That’s already a big accomplishment!
But, oh, let me tell ya, the thing about coachin’ in the NBA, especially for the Lakers, is that there’s always pressure. Folks want them championships, and when they don’t come, well, someone’s gotta take the blame, don’t they? So after two seasons, Lakers management decided to cut ties with Darvin Ham. A first-round playoff exit wasn’t good enough for ‘em, especially when they had players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis. So, they said, ‘Sorry Darvin, but it’s time to go.’
What’s he doin’ now?
Well, don’t think he’s just sittin’ around twiddlin’ his thumbs now! Soon as he got the boot from the Lakers, ol’ Darvin found himself another gig. Didn’t even take long – he ended up with the Milwaukee Bucks, got hired on as an assistant coach. So, he’s back in the NBA, still bringin’ that grit and workin’ hard.
In his playin’ days, he was no big scorer, I tell ya. Averaged a couple points, some rebounds, nothin’ flashy. But he played hard, and that’s what got him noticed. Ended up shootin’ over 50% from the field, even if he wasn’t much for the outside shots. Now, not everyone can be a star, but I tell ya, every team needs someone who puts in the work.
So here’s the thing about Darvin Ham – he’s a hard worker, and he’s been around. Gave the Lakers a good run, but sometimes it just don’t work out the way ya hope. Now, he’s on to the Bucks, and who knows? Maybe he’ll get another chance someday as a head coach. But for now, he’s stayin’ in the game, doin’ what he loves, and keepin’ on.
