So, I saw the news the other day, Tony Finau wins again. Good for him. I remember watching him play, I think it was last year sometime, maybe the 3M Open or one of those summer tournaments. He just looked so steady, you know? Like he knew what he had to do and just went out and did it.

It got me thinking, actually. Not really about golf itself, I’m terrible at golf. Tried it once, spent more time looking for the ball than hitting it. But seeing him win, especially knowing he had some close calls before getting those wins under his belt, it kind of poked at me.
Getting Back to It
I’ve been meaning to get back into shape. Nothing crazy, just maybe jog a bit, feel less like a potato. But every morning it’s the same old story, too tired, too busy, maybe tomorrow. Always tomorrow.
Watching Finau, calm, just going through his routine, shot after shot, it made me think differently for a second. It wasn’t like he hit one magic shot and won. It was all the shots added up. Consistency.
So, yesterday morning, I didn’t think too much. I just put on my old running shoes. They were dusty, seriously. Didn’t set a huge goal. Didn’t plan to run a marathon.
- Just got dressed.
- Walked out the door.
- Started jogging slowly down the street.
It wasn’t pretty. I was breathing hard pretty quick. Only went around the block a couple of times. But here’s the thing: I actually did it. Didn’t think about how far I had to go, just focused on the next step, kind of like watching him focus on the next shot.
Felt pretty decent afterwards. Tired, yeah, but good tired. It wasn’t a big win like Tony Finau grabbing a trophy, but it felt like I finally broke through my own little barrier of ‘tomorrows’.
Funny how watching someone else succeed can give you a little nudge, right? Just gotta keep showing up, I guess. We’ll see if I can do it again tomorrow.
