Okay, so today I want to talk about my little adventure to Barcola. You know, I’ve always been fascinated by those old Roman villas, and I heard Barcola used to be full of them back in the day. I think it says somewhere that one of Nero’s favorites, Calvia Crispinilla, might have even had a pad there. That is kind of cool if you think about it.
So I decided, “Why not? Let’s go check it out!” I packed a bag, grabbed my camera, and off I went. I mean, who does not love a good seaside town, right?
Getting there was no big deal. Once I arrived, the first thing I did was just walk around. I wanted to get a feel for the place, you know? I started snapping pictures of everything that caught my eye. I’ve got tons of photos now, everything from the sea to the buildings. It’s a beautiful place, truly!
Exploring Around
- Strolling along the waterfront: The first thing I did was take a leisurely walk along the coast. I mean, I was there for the Roman history, but the sea was just too beautiful to ignore!
- Checking out the local spots: I wandered into some local shops, even tried some food. You can not visit a new place without trying the local cuisine, right?
- Looking for remnants of the past: This was the main reason I went. I was trying to spot anything that looked like it could be from Roman times. I am not an archaeologist or anything, but it was fun pretending to be one.
I spent the whole day there, just exploring. I talked to some locals, trying to get some stories or find some hidden gems. People were nice, sharing what they knew, which wasn’t much about the roman villas, but everyone was really friendly. You know, the usual stuff when you’re traveling.
By the end of the day, I was pretty beat, but in a good way. I saw a lot, took a ton of pictures, and just enjoyed the vibe of the place. Barcola is definitely worth a visit if you’re into old Roman stuff or just want to chill by the sea. It is a nice place to hang out for a day or two. Although I did not really find a Roman Villa, it was a good trip nonetheless. I think I will do this again sometime. Maybe I will do more research before going next time.
