Okay, so here’s the deal. I was messing around online the other day, just kinda surfing, and I stumbled on this interesting question: “autistic nba players”.

Naturally, I got curious. I mean, you don’t hear about that every day, right? So, I started digging. First thing I did was hit up Google, you know, the usual.
I just typed in “NBA players with autism” or something super basic like that. The first few results were kinda general, talking about athletes with disabilities and stuff. Nothing specific to the NBA. So, I had to refine my search.
I tried adding terms like “Asperger’s” and “high-functioning autism” since I knew those were related. Still, mostly generic articles. It was frustrating!
Then I thought, maybe there’s a story about finding these players rather than them just being listed. So I started googling “How to find autistic NBA players”. That was a smart move.
After some digging, I hit gold! Well, not really gold, but I found some forum posts on Reddit and sports blogs discussing rumors and possibilities. Nothing concrete, but it was a start. I noted down the names of players that were repeated and the reasoning, of course rumours aren’t facts.
Next I was thinking about if there were any non-profits to search for. I tried searching for charities in the NBA, specifically autism charities. Bingo! I found a few organizations that work with autistic kids and teens, some even have sports programs. I scrolled through their websites hoping to find something more concrete.
Then I started thinking sideways… NBA players are often invovled in charities, and that I could see which players are connected to autism charities.
Okay, so after hours of searching and piecing together info from forums, articles, and charity websites, I still didn’t find any definitive “yes, this NBA player is officially diagnosed with autism” statement. I thought, it’s a privacy thing, totally understandable.

The lesson I learned is that sometimes the info you’re looking for just isn’t publicly available. And that’s okay. But hey, I had fun digging, and I definitely learned a lot about the challenges faced by autistic individuals and the awesome organizations that support them.
