Alright, so, I’ve been glued to the US Open coverage lately, you know, as one does when it’s one of the biggest golf tournaments of the year. Pinehurst No. 2, man, that course is a beast! I was trying to figure out where the cut line might land, ’cause it’s always a nail-biter, right?
So, first, I started by watching the first round on Thursday. Just trying to get a feel for how the players were doing. I grabbed my notebook and just started jotting down scores as I saw them on the screen. Lots of pars, some bogeys, and the occasional birdie. It wasn’t a birdie-fest, that’s for sure. After the first day, I counted roughly 64 guys who were at 2 over or better. I was thinking, “Okay, this could be a tough one.”
Then came Friday. I cleared my schedule, made some coffee, and settled in for another day of golf watching. The pressure was definitely on, you could see it in some of the players’ faces. I kept updating my notes, crossing guys off, adding new ones. It was a real rollercoaster.
- Checked Thursday’s results
- Watched Friday’s round
- Tracked scores throughout the day
Figuring Out the Cut
By the end of Friday, things were getting clearer. The course was playing really difficult. More bogeys started creeping in, and it looked like even par wasn’t going to be safe. It was nerve-wracking! I kept refreshing the leaderboard, doing some quick math in my head. Finally, they made it official – the cut was at 5 over. Five over! That’s pretty high for a major. It just shows you how tough Pinehurst was playing.
So there you have it. That’s how I figured out the projected cut line for the 2024 US Open. It wasn’t some fancy algorithm or anything, just good old-fashioned watching, tracking, and a bit of guesstimating. It was a wild ride, and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the tournament plays out. Who do you think is gonna take home the trophy?
