Okay, so I was checking out this baseball player, Braden Montgomery. This guy’s been on my radar for a while, you know? He started off at Stanford, played there for two seasons. Solid stuff, but then he hopped over to Texas A&M for his junior year. I guess he wanted a change of scenery or something.
So, I started digging into his time at Texas A&M. The dude just exploded in the SEC. I mean, seriously, he was hitting bombs left and right. I heard he went from like 17 homers in 2023 to a whopping 27 in 2024. That’s insane, right? And get this, his OPS was 1.187. I was like, “Dang, this guy’s for real.”
Then, I saw this news about him getting hurt. Apparently, he messed up his ankle in some game against Oregon. Tough break, man. He had to sit out the rest of the postseason. Texas A&M still made it to the College World Series final, but they lost to Tennessee.
Draft Day Buzz
Despite the injury, there was a ton of buzz around him for the MLB Draft. I was following it closely, refreshing the page every few minutes. Everyone was talking about him. MLB Pipeline had him ranked as the number 8 draft prospect.
- First, I stalked his college stats.
- Then, I watched some highlight reels – the guy can seriously mash.
- Next, I read every article I could find about him.
- Finally, I tuned into the draft, crossing my fingers.
And then, boom! The Red Sox picked him at number 12! I was pumped! It was awesome to see all that hard work pay off. He was the first pick made by Boston, who then went on to pick up some other dude named Payton Tolle.
I followed up and saw that he is now officially in the Red Sox. They announced it and everything, So, yeah, that’s my deep dive into Braden Montgomery. It was a rollercoaster, from tracking his college career to following the draft drama. I’m excited to see what he does in the big leagues. Go Red Sox!
